3/16/2022 1 Comment Introduction Week 2/24/22For my project I have chosen to go through the process of maintaining my car. As I turned 16 I was fortunate to receive a car for my birthday. However, as this is my first car and I am not fully familiar with how to take care of it, or take the necessary steps to properly maintain a car. My parents had told me it was important to learn these essential skills, and I decided to make that my project and document it through videos and written summaries for this class.
As we were talking about the items I needed to learn, there seemed to be more than enough topics to fill out this project. Our intent is to begin with the basics and progress to more complex and difficult tasks. For example, my initial blog will be on checking and maintaining the proper air pressure in the tires. During the winter months I noticed that my tire pressure would be low on some mornings. After this initial lesson I should be able to demonstrate how to properly check the air pressure and add additional air if needed. My intent is to have this basic maintenance training progress to the significantly more complex topic of changing a tire. In planning this project I talked with my stepdad about what items should be included on our training list and what will be covered in my blogs. Many of the items are fairly routine maintenance checks, like checking the oil, checking windshield wiper fluid as well as changing wiper blades, checking water levels in the radiator, and transmission fluid. We also intend to cover exterior maintenance such as waxing, buffing, and polishing the exterior and even applying touch up paint where needed. We also hope to move to more advanced topics like jump starts, checking the brakes, and changing a tire.
